At night, lights are everything. It helps us see what's around us, where we are going, and at times have a special meaning (much like a red stoplight means hit the brakes, right?). Aviation takes the utility of lights to a whole new level, be it indicating for as far as the eye can see where the field is, differentiating a runway from a taxiway, letting a pilot knew if that other plane is coming or going.
But the useful nature of the lighting in aviation can also just be plain beautiful. Simply looking at all the green, yellow, white, and blue bulbs on a busy international airport blazing away in the darkness has always reminded me of a mythical cavern strewn with precious jewels.
This print was chosen to represent both takes on illumination in aviation. Certainly, the lights are helping the pilots find their way as this jetliner taxies out for an early predawn departure, but the various shades of colors are also eye catching. Me being a pilot, I can appreciate both s...

Aviation is a passion of mine... always has been. And photography is a means of sharing that passion with others. If I'm not flying a plane or sitting in one, then I'm likely training a lens towards it. While I've flown planes for only a fraction of my life, I've always considered myself a pilot.
