Description
The US Coast Guard has a lot of missions, but plucking people stranded at sea is the one that sticks out in my head. Movies have been made that emphasize this crucial task that they perform, and those who have been saved by these guardian angels sent to rescue them no doubt sing their praises.
Today, we were lucky to have been visited by the quintessential Coast Guard helo, the HH-60. A derivitive of the Army's Blackhawk helicopter, the Jayhawk is their bird of choice when range is an issue. As this HH-60 lifted off and soared by, I captured this image. It struck me how this very view of the helo might be that of a would-be victim as the Jayhawk arrived on scene, ready to deploy its swimmer. While not the sharpest imaghe I've captured, it adds further falvor to that being-there quality, as if the rotor wash is blurring your vision.
