Description
In aviation, you might hear the term "RVR" - Runway Visual Range. It's the physical distance that a pilot can "see" down the runway. A bare minimum, they want enough of a figure to where they can at least see a fair amount of pavement (or built in lights) ahead of themselves. After all, it's a crucial thing to know where they're not going off the runway's edge as they're hurtling down it at over 100 mph.
As it was this beautiful morning, the RVR had just barely reached the minimum value for these three planes to start taking off. Yes... I said "Three"; the third plane lies unseen somewhere under the American Airlines' left wing. Kind of gives a whole new perspective on the conditions airplanes do fly in.
