Description
The next time you're flying at night on an airliner, keep an eye out for a string of flashing amber lights. Called Runway Guard Lights, they are designed to warn pilots that they are approaching a runway.
For the set of RGLs at the entrance of a runway, I see them somewhat differently. I see them as the line where the fun begins. Once on the other side of those amber lights, an aircraft's typical subsequent act is to throttle up and roar off for some far away destination.
At The Starting Line attempts to capture that moment in time in the form of this A320, which is just holding short of its assigned runway. In the next instant, it will have received clearance to taxi onto the strip, and in the next will be rumbling off for departure. I like the brightening skies as they give a hint of better things coming for those onboard the airliner.
